March 23, 2017: Am I Free From the Trial?

Dear <<First Name>>,

"for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city." And he settled there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. But while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat," Acts 18:10-12, NAS95.

While reading this chapter today, this group of verses stood out to me. In it, the Lord speaks to Paul in a vision and tells him to stay in Corinth for he will be safe there. However, after a year and a half, he is once again brought by a mob to court.

When I read this it reminded me that what I interpret of God's voice or words to me and what He is saying to me may be different. I read, "you are not going to have any problems," and God means, "you are going to be safe in the midst of problems."

We all have a tendency to read our bibles or hear the Holy Spirit speak with a mindset of how we can have a painless and problem free life. However, the Word of God is meant to strengthen and sustain us when we face problems, not keep us from them.

Remember that the Lord is always for us and nothing will separate us from His love. "Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" Romans 8:35, NAS95.

You will notice that this is a list of hardships. He will not keep us from them, but He will be there in the midst of them to strengthen us. Let's not forget it.

Have a great day!

Thursday

Love,
Pastor Stuart
