Will you to commit to pray for our time in the prison and for awakening/revival in the hearts inmates and staff there? More and more, there seems to be a lack of interest in God. This is a spiritual problem, and we need God’s Spirit to move and work in hearts. Please click here to sign up to pray for our teams as we go into Chester County Correctional Center/Prison, for Janis as she meets with clients and for Cindy as she teaches in Coatesville. We have multiple time slots available: Fresh Start on Tuesday afternoons, GED Academy on Wednesday nights, Bible Study on Thursdays nights and Client Interviews on Fridays. You are a vital part of our team! We need you to pray.

My Journey: Music Teacher to Prison Ministry
- by Jean McIntire -
(Pictured above: Jean & Joanne)

In the spring of 2002, my friend Joanne hit a child while driving under the influence of alcohol. (Thankfully, the child recovered.) Joanne was a guidance counselor in my school district and highly regarded in the community. She was a dedicated Christian and spent much of her time helping and counseling others. I was there when she was sentenced and was shocked by its length, which seemed harsh considering the circumstances and her lack of previous infractions. Off she went to Chester County Correctional Center, in tears.
I wanted to visit Joanne in prison but her family had first priority, so I began to think of another way... I contacted Michelle Manthey, and she graciously welcomed my help. So I joined the Women’s Bible Study at Chester County Correctional Center. I led the women in praise songs and not only saw Joanne every week, but felt drawn more and more into ministering to the women there. After Joanne’s release, I continued going, while remaining close with Joanne until her untimely death from cancer.
A few years later, I stepped down as a volunteer because of work commitments. However, I promised Michelle that when I retired from teaching, I would return. The year after I retired, I kept running into Michelle and remembered my promise. I renewed my clearances and returned! This time I’m working with Heather Albrecht in Fresh Start, a Bible-based life skills course, on Tuesday afternoons in the Center. The Holy Spirit is very much at work in the hearts of the dear ladies who attend, as well as, in us.
Over and over the ladies tell us that Fresh Start is a “lifeline” for them. The curriculum is beautifully done and relevant to the women. I thank God for the opportunity we have to share our passion for Jesus and His Word with these daughters of THE KING.

A Testimony of Grace Behind Bars

"God has given me the time I needed to get to know myself in prison.
He's given me the strength to set boundaries and stick to them.
He's given me time to sit and think about my life and
how to turn it around for the positive.
New Mornings helped me relate the Bible to my life and has given me reassurance that God is with me and is guiding my life.
God has a plan and has not given up on me."

Discover Jesus
Beginning in February, our Women’s Bible Study at Chester County Correctional Center embarked on a 10-week study on Jesus, leading up to Easter. Please join us on Facebook and follow along as we look at passages describing the promise of Jesus, His birth, baptism, temptation, power, teachings, and ultimately His Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension, using the Discovery Bible Study method. Pray with us, that the women will come and will leave forever changed.
