Hi everyone,

A lot has happened since the last newsletter, so we choose to only highlight five activities since last autumn until now.

Tipling Treks
Our goal is to help develop The Great Himalayan Trail section between Langtang and Manaslu and to create responsible, environmental and sustainable tourism in the Tipling area. We have made six visits since October and this is an ongoing project. For project description and situation report, please download below.
Supporting partner: Reis Nepal.

Buy a Blanket
Our 2015 Buy a Blanket campaign resulted in over 900 quality quilts being bought and distributed to those in need. THANKS!
Our 2016 campaign was less ambitious, with about 100 blankets being turned into ponchos or sleeping bags.

International Women's Day - March 8th
Was celebrated in Tipling, where Steps Foundation's local section presented an amazing series of plays. Covering the dangers of early and forced marriage, gambling and alcohol - all to raise awareness about inequality in society. Backed by speeches, music, song and dance - a festival with over 500 attending from five villages.

Mountain People Book Shop
Opened at Hotel Moonlight the first week of March, selling books, maps and Beni re-cycled handicrafts. This will be both an office and a "window" for our work. Plus a sales area for Freedom Kit-bags (washable sanitary pad sets) and school book sets, to be delivered for free to school classes.

Please inform any friends visiting Nepal about our new shop.
All profits go to the running of Mountain People Centre.

David handing over shop keys, and wishing Lila, our new manager, good luck with the venture. Below: Our first customers!

Freedom Kit-bags
In 2016 Beni Handicrafts produced in the region of 1000 sets of sanitary pads.
With 100Bookproject and others we hope to reach the same volume in 2017.

Production of Freedom Kit-bags at Beni Handicrafts factory.

With this we wish you all a wonderful summer, and hope that some (many) of you will find your way to Nepal this spring, or autumn.
