West Lothian Clarions Weekly News Toot

February Race Summary

Apologies for the delay in getting it published, however click on the link above for the results of the clubs racing in February.  The CX scene came to a close last month, but it went out with a bang, with several podium places, and the last ever Dig in at the Dock.   Also good to see the first of the TT results start to filter through, with the first race of the season underway down in Irvine.

Hi All,

Harry Tanned the Field at the Lang Whang Hilly TT last Sunday smashing the course record. Well done all who put themselves through the pain and those who helped out. Without you we couldn’t hold these fantastic events.

Spring has officially sprung…………...apparently! Unlike the past few weekends an improvement is forecast for the weekend, currently showing: Sat: Sunny Intervals, High of 11C, 5mph W

The proposed routes as follows:

25-MAR-17- LLC 9:00am – Carron Bridge Auchenbowie - 45 miles

 https://ridewithgps.com/routes/18023922

25-MAR-17 ECSC 9:00am – Balerno Cragie’s Winchburgh - 40 miles

http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/WLC-Balerno-Craigies-Winchburgh

Please familiarise yourself with the route.

Don’t forget to post on the forum if you’re coming along next weekend for the cycling Weekly ‘ride with’ combined runhttp://westlothianclarion.yuku.com/topic/4874/Special-Combined-Club-Run-Saturday-1st-April-2017#.WNEOMYdOcpE

Can I ask you to take a few minutes to read over the Group Riding page on the website. These techniques/do’s and don’ts are set out to make a club run/group ride an enjoyable and safe experience.

And, please continue to post up a wee report on the forum.

Stay safe and enjoy.

Chris

And Finally......

Dont forget that the 122nd National Clarion Easter Meet is coming up on 14th April, being held in Chester for the first time since 1946.  Barry Hoban will be Guest of Honour for the Sunday evening Annual Prize Presentation and Gala Dinner.  Barry Hoban, a lifelong Clarion member and with 8 Tour de France stage victories and the Classic Ghent Wevelgem in 1974 to his name, is one of the country’s most decorated road racers. This is a one off chance to meet the man and listen to some of his great anecdotes of his time racing at a highest level with Anquetil, Merckx and Hinault (not many people can say that).

For more info on how to book, check out the National Clarion page here.
