Colour as Life - A Series of Monotypes

A series of 3 monotypes in oil on paper, each worked over in another medium. The one on the left is the first pull from a plate I had painted on in oilpaint, and then pulled through a printing press with a sheet of damp paper. The second and third where done in the same way, from the remains of paint on the original plate, without repainting.

It is due to the nature of this process that the first one came out practically dripping with paint, a strong, bold, massive presence, the second one more nuanced, maybe the one showing the most of the actual body, and the third almost as a tender ghost.

Once the paper had dried, I looked at them and tried to bring out whatever it was each of them seemed to further need. On the left I used white oil pastel, in the middle white soft pastel, on the right some soft lines in coloured pencil.

The monotyping process gave all of them a warm glow that I don't feel I have been able to bring out in the scans, but that they share with yesterday's life drawing. There is a whole layer of pattern in the one in the middle that is just barely visible in the image, but has a strong and surprising presence in the work itself.

They are available either individually for € 58 + shipping each (on Etsy here, here and here), or all together for € 120 (in this case, better to directly write me an email, for example by responding to this one).
