CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Roisin Cossar upon the publication of her book Clerical Households in Late Medieval Italy (Harvard University Press, 2017). Her book is part of the I Tatti Studies in Italian Renaissance History series which are published in conjunction with The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at Villa I Tatti. This series represents the very highest quality scholarship concerning the history of the Italian Renaissance from the thirteenth to seventeenth centuries.
Congratulations to Adele Perry, whose book Colonial Relations: The Douglas-Connolly Family and the 19th Century Imperial World (Cambridge UP, 2015) has been short-listed for the Canadian Historical Association's Sir John A. Macdonald Prize. This award is given to the non-fiction work of Canadian history judged to have made the most significant contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past.
Further congratulations to our alumna Sarah Carter whose book Imperial Plots: Women, Land, and the Spadework of British Colonialism on the Canadian Prairies (University of Manitoba Press, 2016) is also short-listed for this prize.

HISTORY COLLOQUIUM
Mariya Melentyeva, UM History instructor and PhD candidate UAlberta, will give a research presentation "Forging A Liberal Alliance: Jews, Socialists, and Liberals in the Russian Imperial Borderlands" on Wednesday, April 12, 2:45 pm, 409 Tier Building. Everyone is welcome.

Undergraduate Research Symposium
Faculty of Arts Undergrad Students will present their research in 5 sessions held through the day of Thursday, March 30, in 307 Tier Building. Registration & Breakfast begins at 9:30 am. Closing comments will be at 2:30 – full details.

The Department of Anthropology presents Ethics and Archives in the Contemporary World, a roundtable discussion with: History Department speakers Tom Nesmith and Greg Bak; Christian Fees, Frobenius Inst. Germany; and Raymond Frogner, National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation, Friday, March 31, 2:30 pm in the UM Archives & Special Collections Reading Area, E. Dafoe Library.
The Faculty of Arts presents the Outstanding Professor of 2016, the History Department’s Jorge Nállim giving a public talk “Cultural Networks and Politics in Cold War Latin America, “ Tuesday, April 4, 3:00 pm, Conklin Theatre, 3rd floor Tache Hall. Reception to follow. Everyone is welcome.

Writer Jamie Swift will be speaking on and signing The Vimy Trap, or, How We Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Great War  (Between the Lines Press, 2016) - another book short-listed for the forementioned CHA MacDonald Prize and co-authored by Ian McKay.
