Saint Turibio
Today we celebrate the feast of St. Turibio of Mongrovejo (pictured above left), a Spanish missionary priest and later Archbishop of Lima, and great champion of human rights for the oppressed. St. Turibio, pray for us, that we may imitate your willingness to follow God wherever he leads and stand up for the vulnerable without hesitation. Amen!

Urban Catholic Lord's Day
Prayer--it's important. Just how important? The Christian's survival depends on it. Young adults ages 18-35 are invited to learn more this Sunday at Lord's Day with Fr. Byron Hagan at 4:30pm (confessions are available starting at 4). Then, join us after mass for a social hour at Bottle Rocket, where newcomers to UC will receive a free drink! #jointhemovement

Sunday's Readings
In the First Book of Samuel, the prophet chooses the lowly David from all his more impressive brothers to anoint as King of Israel. St. Paul tells the Ephesians, "Live as children of light." Finally, Jesus heals the blind man in John's Gospel, illustrating that physical sight is good, but perceiving Christ's Light is far more valuable.
