Bringing Neighbors Together to Build Community

We Have A New Website! - Visit us at www.WeCANDenver.org

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

WeCAN is excited to announce the launch of our updated website! The WeCAN Marketing committee has been hard at work updating the WeCAN Denver website, and we would love to know what you think! You can try it out at www.WeCANDenver.org.

We’ve updated the content and navigation to make the site easier to use. The site has been optimized for mobile browsing, so it works great on phones and tablets. We also combined our “news” section with our Facebook page, so you get the freshest information no matter how you follow us.

Over the coming months, we’ll be adding additional information on some of the things our committees have been working on. We’d love to hear from you on what information you’d like to see on the WeCAN website. Please send any feedback or suggestions to Dave@wecandenver.org.

Kind Regards,

Nadia Hafeez Patrick & Leah Rounds
WeCAN Co-Presidents

Project Ideas Needed for Neighborhood Clean-up Day

Do you know a neighbor in West Colfax who needs assistance with an exterior housing project? This can be mowing, weeding, painting, ground-level tree trimming, etc. WeCAN is once again partnering with Extreme Community Makeover (ECM) and Confluence Ministries for the spring clean-up day in West Colfax, and are currently looking for project ideas. If you have an elderly or disabled neighbor that could use some help fixing up the exterior of their home please contact Diana at dietvorst1@comcast.net or 303-550-9853. We would love to add them to our project list for the May 20th Clean-up Day.

And Save the Date for WeCAN’s Clean-up Day on May 20th!

This is a great way to partner with your neighbors to: complete exterior home repair or improvement projects for a neighbor in need, clean up trash on the streets and alleys, remove graffiti, and meet your neighbors.

When: Saturday, May 20 - 9:00am - 4:00pm
Where: Confluence Ministries (1400 Quitman St.)
RSVP to dietvorst1@comcast.net

Lunch will be provided. Projects are generally completed by 4:00pm; come for half or the full day! Children of all ages are welcome to come with an adult willing to work with and supervise them.

Blueprint Denver wants to know: How should Denver address growth?

How will Denver address growth as our population continues to increase? Come be part of a Blueprint Denver workshop to help identify the best path forward for managing Denver’s growth.

At the April 25 scenario planning workshop, you can join a “Blueprint growth strategy game” that plays out the implications of different patterns of growth. What are the tradeoffs for different population, employment and housing increases, and what are the tradeoffs associated with different growth strategies?

By creating priority transit corridors, exploring current and future growth patterns downtown and in mixed-use centers, and envisioning new mixed-use centers, you will have an opportunity to help shape how future growth may impact equity and affordability, mobility, and access to recreation and other daily needs.

Blueprint Denver Workshop

When: April 25, 2017 - 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Where: West Leadership Academy at Denver West High School - 951 Elati St, Denver, CO 80204
