Birkbeck signs San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment

Birkbeck will commit to not using journal-based metrics, such as journal impact factors or brand name, in the hiring and promotion of academic staff. This is designed to reassure researchers that what matters is the quality of their work.

SOAS academic marks School’s Centenary with special book of poems

The collection Poeta Scholasticus features poetry written by Dr Radice over 25 years on his experiences at SOAS, current and former members of staff and on notable events at the School. The poems include ‘The SOASIST’, ‘Burmese Cooking’ and ‘The PhD Student Sees the Light’.

IOE Director debates academic selection at leading international education conference

The GESF aims to address the challenges of education, equity, and employment for all. This year’s theme: ‘How do we make ‘real’ global citizens?’ asked delegates to consider what we need to teach our children and how we can move those lessons to action.
