The NIA was born with a small loyal team of impacted people and quickly grew as a dedicated movement involving hundreds of families. Families just like yours.
In the beginning, it wasn’t easy for us. We had to endure the harsh words from those who don’t feel impacted, we had to endure the day to day fear of not hearing from our incarcerated loved ones, of not finding work due to our former incarceration, of wondering what the new administration would do with the momentum we all worked so hard on in reform and of wondering if the movement would catch on.
Well it did catch on, and not only did we survive, we are thriving! Thanks to you we are continuing to grow our community of those who care about our vision and mission.
So, as we leave the difficult winter behind and step into the restorative spring we can take pause and reflect on where we are heading, and we can all feel good about being included.
