Event Invitation: What Next? Life after Neighbourhood Partnerships 5th April 6:30pm

Neighbourhood Partnerships as we know them are coming to an end. Communities, active residents, community and voluntary sector organisations and Councillors have been asked to decide how you want to work together in a way which best suits your area, and which will help make the most of the resources, make things happen and influence the things that are most important for you

We’re also interested to know how you would like to engage with Bristol City Council in the future, how you want to set priorities, and what support you will need in the short term to do this. This event is for people wanting to

Network with like-minded people, people who want to take an active role in local decision making
Find out more about what is on offer from Bristol City Council and what will happen over the coming months
Share information and ideas about what their community wants to do
Share skills and learn from others

The agenda is not yet set, we want you to send in your ideas for the meeting. For example, you might want to hear about what other areas are doing or know more about what Bristol City Council is proposing

If you register for the Networking Event before 28th March, you will get a chance to suggest an agenda item as part of the registration process

Appointment of members of the public to sit on the new Independent Scrutiny Panel

The Avon and Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC), Sue Mountstevens, wishes to establish a Scrutiny of Police Powers Panel. The Panel will act as ‘critical friend’ to the PCC and to Avon & Somerset Constabulary providing feedback on the use of police powers. The PCC is looking for independent local people to help her monitor the use of police powers such as stop and search, Taser and use of force by the police. The PCC feels it is important that not only are the public’s views represented in policing, but that local people trust and have confidence in their police service and she believes this new Panel will help in delivering this

Sue is keen that the panel represents and reflects the communities within the Avon and Somerset Policing area and we would be grateful if you would kindly circulate the appointment details and the attached posters via your diversity contacts network
