Chapel Class Sunday School

Because the Bible Tells Me So

We all know this simple line from the simple song, but what is our basis for trusting a document that guides our every step as Christians. The six-week Sunday School class will delve into the doctrines that influence the way we interact with them and how they shape us as Christians.

The goal of this course is to instill in us a passion for knowing, reading and acting on scripture.  The more we know about the Bible, the better equipped we will be to do the Bible.  So join us Sunday mornings at 9:45 in the Sanctuary for Because the Bible Tells Me So.
Community Book Discussion
Monday, May 1 at
7:
00pm

Nate Shurden will lead the discussion on Gilead, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Marilynne Robinson.

Summary:
The narrator, John Ames, is 76, a preacher who has lived almost all of his life in Gilead, Iowa. He is writing a letter to his almost seven-year-old son, the blessing of his second marriage. It is a summing-up, an apologia, a consideration of his life. Robinson takes the story away from being simply the reminiscences of one man and moves it into the realm of a meditation on fathers and children, particularly sons, on faith, and on the imperfectability of man.

Talent Survey

On the second Sunday of each month, various families at Cornerstone will be opening their homes and serving lunch after the second service to any and all Cornerstone members and attenders who are in their twenties. There’s no cost, no need to RSVP, no need to bring anything, and no big agenda except to provide a way for twenty-somethings at Cornerstone (married and single) to connect with each other. For more information, contact nancyguthrie@comcast.net
