Announcing Pittsburgh Earth Day

Thursday, April 20th - Saturday, April 22nd

Pittsburgh goes green Thursday, April 20th through Saturday, April 22, 2017 during a citywide celebration of Pittsburgh Earth Day. Market Square, Fourth Avenue, the Fairmont Hotel, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, The Tower at PNC Plaza, and Coterie Company will host exciting events showcasing local artists, musicians and the city’s leaders in green projects and programs to highlight the accomplishments from Steel to Sustainable.

Pittsburgh's story of transformation from an industrial zone to a 'green' city gives the region much to celebrate. In the eyes of local, regional, and national admirers, Pittsburgh has become a hub for green innovations, sustainable design, LEED-certified buildings, and vibrant economy. Pittsburgh touts the first green college residence hall, the world's first and largest gold LEED®-certified convention center, and one of the greenest high-rises ever built, among other notable "firsts".

Pittsburgh Earth Day is made possible by sponsors including Acrobatique Creative, UPMC Health Plan, Pitt Ohio, Millcraft Investments, Piatt Sotheby’s, PNC Bank, Peoples Gas, Carmeuse, Alcosan, Port Authority, Dollar Bank, Chipotle, Baierl Subaru, The Yards at 3 Crossings, The Falk School of Sustainability & Environment at Chatham University, Great Lakes Brewing, IKEA, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Levin Furniture, Commonwealth Charter Academy, Solar City, Pennsylvania American Water, Blume Honey Water, and Renewal by Anderson along with many community partners.

“We’re evolving the city’s reputation from steel to sustainable,” says Ronda Zegarelli, president of Acrobatique Creative and Co-founder of Pittsburgh Earth Day. “Pittsburgh Earth Day’s goal is to bring together the community to showcase the progression of our city as a leader in green innovation.”
