Seeing With Fresh Eyes

Last Sunday Dr. Mickey Klink shared that he grew up in a fatherless home. At a father-son basketball game when he was a young boy, Mickey felt awkwardly alone. A friend’s father touched his shoulder and invited him to play as one of his sons on his team. It was the first time Mickey felt included, loved and accepted as a son. Like many of you, I was moved to tears by Mickey’s story, deeply feeling the healing power of a touch to a tender-hearted lonely boy.

The truth is, each day we encounter people who are living with great loneliness and pain and who would flourish if we could share our love and compassion with them. Because we are members of the family of God, He gives us opportunities to participate in His work of redeeming lives and mending hearts. We can have these divine appointments in the workplace, in our neighborhoods, in our communities and even in other countries...

Elder Nominations

This year’s potential Elder candidates have been nominated, vetted, and selected as a result of the nomination process. The following candidates will be up for affirmation by our church members at our annual election on May 7. We are pleased to introduce Jay Huckabone as our new nominee to fill the open Elder-At-Large seat. There are three incumbent nominees eligible to run for a second term. Fred Ouderkerken has been nominated to continue in his role as Elder Chair and both Dan Reyneveld and Paul Burke have also been nominated to continue to serve on the Board.

We are grateful for the time and service of our Nomination Committee made up of Steve Eckberg (Committee Chair, Elder), Jonathan Balzora (Committee Vice Chair, Elder), Bob Alexander (Congregation), Jenni Key (Staff), Kelsie Ward (Congregation), Matt Ward (Congregation), and Jamie White (Congregation).
