At Tuesday night's Board of Aldermen meeting, Park University introduced a new plant fossil named Parkvillia northcutti, after the City of Parkville, considered to be a link between conifers and ferns and the earliest evidence of seeds.

Park University Professor Scott Hageman is one of the authors of the paper “A new Pennsylvanian pollen organ from northwestern Missouri with affinities in the Lyginopteridales” which relates to the discovery of new fossilized organism. Local Storm Spotter Training

Interested in learning more about being a storm spotter? One remaining training date and location is available and open to the public, schools, fire, EMS, police, public works and their families.

Parkville named a Tree City USA for 26th Year
 
Parkville was named a 2016 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. Parkville is one of more than 3,400 Tree City USAs, with a combined population of 140 million. Parkville was one of 36 Missouri communities to receive the grant in 2016.

The City will hold an Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in English Landing Park.
The City of Parkville is currently seeking applicants for the following positions:
  • Police officer
  • Receptionist
  • Public Works engineering summer intern
  • Seasonal parks laborers

Highway 45 from Brightwell to Timber Ridge closed
Highway 45 from Brightwell Road to Timber Ridge Drive is closed through April (weather permitting). MoDOT's signed detour is Route K to MO-152 to I-435.
