Mrs. Shae Morton Carter, age 64 of Hazlehurst, died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
Mrs. Carter was born January 27, 1953 in Bullock County to the late Jack Walter Morton and the late Vivian Lee Brannen Morton. She was retired from the State of Georgia and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hazlehurst. She is preceded in death by her brother, Derman Morton “Skeeis”.
Survivors include her husband, James Carter of Hazlehurst; Daughter, Deidra Higgins (Josh) of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Alyssa Tanner, Trent Tanner and Jaxton Higgins; sister, Sheila Porter of Statesboro; brother, Randy Morton of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017, visitation starting at 1:00pm and funeral services to follow at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Gail and Rev. Josh Duckworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Carter, Mark Carter, Buck Elder, Brannen Morton, Jimmy Morris and Jay Woodard.
Musical selections will be rendered by Jimmy Maley and the Choir of First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Unto The Least of Him.
