HUD Informational Meeting for Resources on Energy Efficiency Programs

On April 24, 2017, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM (EDT), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Asset Management will host an Energy Efficiency information session for property managers and owners of buildings in its New York City portfolio. It is important that your firm be represented as we will provide valuable information on resources to help your property operate at maximum efficiency.

Register here!

We will present an overview of the topics below, followed by a forum for attendees to meet with representatives one-on-one:

  • Better Buildings Challenge (BBC) is a voluntary leadership initiative that asks building owners and managers to make a commitment to improving the energy and water efficiency of their building portfolios by 20% over 10 years and to share their annual progress and lessons learned with the public. The Federal Government provides support to BBC Partners in overcoming obstacles on their journeys and highlights their good work. This session will also describe how energy retrofits can create healthier environments for residents, and can often create opportunities for community members by creating green jobs.
  • NYC Retrofit Accelerator offers free, personalized advisory services that streamline the process of improving the energy efficiency of your building, resulting in reduced operating costs, enhanced tenant comfort, and an improved environment.
  • NYC Benchmarking Help Center is a free service for owners and managers of buildings who must benchmark their properties in accordance with NYC's Greener, Greater Buildings legislation. You'll hear about benchmarking and its importance, learn how the new NYC benchmarking law affects building owners, and understand the basics of benchmarking using Energy Star Portfolio Manager.

Attendees will also learn about HUD programs that can address other building upgrade needs. Many measures have minimal out-of-pocket costs due to the availability of reimbursements and incentives, and can be recouped through savings in operating costs.

Please join this informative session and prepare to share the benefits of creating a more energy efficient building with your residents and cooperative boards. Light breakfast will be provided at 9am. Please bring identification and registration letter for entry to the building. Please RSVP by April 20th.
