Did you know that April 4th is #EqualPayDay? We'll be calling attention to the gender pay gap. Watch out for more details.
In addition, we are pleased to announce the second event in the Confidence in Motion series: Personal Finance, hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis at 5:30 pm on April 4th. We will explore how gender and race affect wealth, and participate in break-out table talks on important personal finance topics as well as career opportunities at the Fed.
We've had a lot of new interest in joining Circles. We also understand some of the Circles in the LeanIn.org Circle Hub have been inactive. In order to support both new and existing members, we have created a survey to help match people to form new Circles or revive existing groups. Please take a few minutes to fill out the information
Many people have asked how our Lean In chapter was started. After Sheryl Sandberg’s book was published in 2013, Lean In Circles began forming around the world. These Circles were self-organized groups of 8-12 people that gathered regularly to learn and grow together, using meeting guides provided by the Lean In organization. In some cities, women took the idea even further, organizing larger community events and initiatives around gender equity to encourage even more women to pursue their ambitions. Lean In took notice and began offering additional support to regional leaders to form official chapters.
The Lean In St. Louis Regional Chapter officially kicked off in 2016 with the intention of creating chapter wide events, conducting more outreach, and better supporting women who want to join or start Circles in the St. Louis area. With a new Board of Directors for 2017, our chapter continues to grow and plan a greater variety of events and initiatives.
