GRADE 9: SUBJECT CHOICE FOR 2018

Later this year the Grade 9 girls will choose subjects for the FET band (Grades 10 to 12).  Attention is drawn to the fact that learners will have to prove that they are capable of coping with the demands of a subject in Grade 9 in order to be allowed to continue with it next year.

For example, learners who wish to take subjects such as Design or Visual Arts in Grade 10 will not be considered if they do not pass and/or complete all their tasks in Grade 9 Art this year.

In some subjects places are limited and, in such cases, will be allocated on merit to the most deserving learners.  Learners are therefore urged to work hard and get the best possible marks.  Grade 9 girls need to make sure that they hand in all their work and meet deadlines in the various subjects to keep their options open for Grade 10 next year.

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parents and their daughters will have an opportunity to meet with individual subject teachers at the start of next term.  The dates of these meetings are as follows:
  • Grades 9 to 12:  Wednesday 19 April (17:30 to 20:00)
  • Grade 8:  Monday 24 April (17:30 to 20:00)
Please discuss your daughter’s report with her over the holidays and decide which teachers you would like to see.
Booking sheets will be available at the start of next term, so please ask your daughter to make the necessary appointments.
Girls must accompany their parents to these meetings, which will be held in the Kemp Hall, in full school uniform.

Please note that Music Department staff will also be available to meet the parents of subject and extra-curricular Music pupils on these dates. There will no longer be a separate Music meeting.
TERM 2 STARTS ON TUESDAY 18 APRIL. This is Week 1 (Day 1) on the timetable.
WINTER UNIFORM CHANGEOVER

Next term girls may wear either complete winter OR complete summer uniform. No combinations of the two are allowed.

From Tuesday 2 May, however, the winter uniform will be compulsory for all learners.

Parents are advised to check that their daughters’ uniforms still fit, jerseys are not frayed and worn, and to make new purchases in good time. Please bear in mind that stock or particular sizes may not be readily available closer to the changeover date.
