Recommended read:

Danez Smiths's [Insert] Boy, (YesYes Books, 2014) is my recommended poetry collection this month. Danez Smith's poetry is clever,  political, sexy and challenging. He's won many prizes in the USA but isn't as well known elsewhere as I feel he should be. He's a wonderful poet. Read him.  https://www.yesyesbooks.com/product-page/insert-boy-by-danez-smith

Hi and welcome

New poems
Thanks to the editors of B O D Y for publishing two new poems. 'The Only Truly Memorable New Year's Eve' and 'The Reveal'. 'The Reveal' was written during my residency at the Arnolfini. Hope you'll enjoy them http://bodyliterature.com/2017/03/20/katrina-naomi/ I'm also delighted to have poems forthcoming in Modern Poetry in Translation and The Dark Horse.

Events in April
I'll be returning to Poetry Wivenhoe in Essex on Thurs 27 April and reading with Sarah Barnsley and others in Lewes, Sussex, at the Lewes Arms on Fri 28 April. For info on all forthcoming readings and events, see http://www.katrinanaomi.co.uk/kendal-poetry-festival/

Courses and coaching
I'll be running a week's poetry course for Arvon with Jen Hadfield (guest tutor is Penny Pepper) at the end of May (bursaries are available) http://www.katrinanaomi.co.uk/arvon-poetry-course/.  I'm also offering Poetry Surgeries for the Poetry Society on Sun 23 April. These are hour-long coaching and feedback sessions, available face-to-face and via skype http://www.katrinanaomi.co.uk/poetry-surgeries-23-april/

And you might like
If you're publishing poems, stories or articles in magazines, you might think about joining the ALCS. Each year you get a nice royalties cheque, so definitely worth it http://www.alcs.co.uk/What-we-do/Membership-of-ALCS/Eligibility?platform=hootsuite.  Also, you might like to apply to join Poetry London's new mentorship scheme, the deadline's 23 April - good luck http://us10.campaign-archive1.com/?u=dcaa1d07ca0bd9db433784535&id=f77f0f7f72

Best wishes,
Katrina
