New Awards Recognition Program

This year we will host an in school Awards Assembly on Friday, May 19. This assembly will replace the evening Honors Night held in the past.  This assembly will take place during the school day so that the entire student body, faculty and staff can recognize the award recipients.  Special awards have been chosen for this program that will honor select seniors and juniors.  Parents of award recipients will be invited to attend this event.  We believe this new format will honor the recipients with greater recognition from a wider audience including their peers and teachers. In addition, academic department awards will be presented to students during in-school theater homerooms this spring.  We are excited about these new venues to honor our students and the enthusiasm that our community will bring to celebrate the award recipients.

We are also making some changes to the printed commencement program. This year we will recognize each student who receives a scholarship with a symbol next to their name.

Counseling Office Updates

The CDH Education Fair will be held on April 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Griep Family Gymnasium for juniors and their families.  Over 100 colleges and universities will be in attendance.  An email will be sent to all juniors the week before the fair with a list of participating schools.

PFP 2017 2018:  Mr. Brewer and Mrs. Vinck are in the candidate application, interview and selection process for the 2017-18 peer mentor group, People Finding People (PFP).  Twenty-two seniors will be carefully selected through the process which includes faculty recommendation, application and group interviews.  These selected peer mentors will attend a summer training session as well as a fall training retreat.  They will connect with incoming 9th graders next fall.  The goal of the program is to provide peer connection and support through the transition period into CDH.

Spring Musical

Come to the CDH production of "In the Heights".  Set in the vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights, a bodega owner named Usnavi dreams of escaping to the shores of his native Dominican Republic.  This struggle to determine which traditions to keep and which to leave behind was brilliantly explored by Lin Manuel Miranda, the genius creator and star of Broadway's "Hamilton".
Show times are:  April 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 7:00 p.m.  Sunday afternoons April 23 and 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for senior citizens and students.  Find out more and reserve your tickets.

Parents’ Association Dues - Please help support annual PA events!
This year the Parents’ Association will no longer benefit from the Target Red Card, as Target has decided to go in a different direction with their charitable giving. The PA events, which were subsidized significantly by those contributions, will need some financial backing from all of us at CDH. With that in mind, we are asking each family to pay dues to the Parents’ Association of $30 per family. This will help keep the cost of attendance at our events affordable for all and allow us to continue the great traditions that we have been able to enjoy for many years. To send payment please go to Support the Parents’ Association. Thank you!

Volunteers Needed
The Parents’ Association could always use more help. We need many volunteers to make each event a success! Grandparents Mass and Senior Lock in are coming up, volunteer online today!
