Matlab R2017a is Now Available

Mathworks logoMatlab R2017a from MathWorks is now available for UT faculty, staff, and students to download. R2017a delivers new features in MATLAB and Simulink, two new products, and updates to all other products.

Highlights include:

  • Deep Learning - Use pretrained CNN models, import Caffe models, and train with multiple GPUs and cloud instances.
  • 5G Library - MATLAB functions for simulating 3GPP 5G new radio technologies.
  • Automated Driving - New toolbox to design, simulate, and test ADAS and autonomous driving systems.

Two products have license-related changes in R2017a: SimRF has been renamed to RF Blockset, and RF Blockset (formerly SimRF) no longer requires Simscape.

For more information about R2017a, see the release highlights and videos and release notes. You can download R2017a products now from the License Center.

Please note, MathWorks will implement some changes regarding TAH licenses that will affect MATLAB activation procedures. We will provide more details regarding the TAH licenses at OIT Research Support Software.

Featured Software: JMP Pro13

JMP logoJMP is statistical software from SAS that provides a comprehensive set of data analysis and visualization tools. The latest release, JMP Pro 13, enables users to run analyses faster, especially with large data sets and has major improvements to a number of popular JMP platforms. Many modeling platforms now offer an interactive model building drag-and-drop dashboard that lets you quickly assess the impact of adding and removing terms. JMP Pro 13 adds significant capabilities for multivariate analysis and dimension reduction. It enables users to incorporate text data including unstructured text in surveys, comment fields, and engineering reports into their modeling tasks.

For Mac users, JMP Pro 13 is the only JMP version currently available for installation on Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra). The incompatibility between older versions of JMP and Mac OS Sierra may cause JMP to fail to launch, or after launching, to unexpectedly close.

JMP is available to faculty, staff, and students at the Knoxville and Memphis campuses, and can be downloaded for no additional charge from OIT's software download site. Members of other UT campuses must purchase JMP directly from SAS Institute. JMP runs on Windows 32-bit and 64-bit systems and Mac Intel systems.
