Easter 2017 Edition

Hello again!  Before you leave to go on your Easter holidays (and eat lots of chocolate eggs!) we wanted to share with you our latest news and information that may benefit you going forward!

The theme for this month's newsletter is
COMPASSION and how every little kindness you give, can make a big difference.  This follows on from all the tragic events recently which have led to lots of people demonstrating compassion to others.  We hope that you find the content we share this month useful.

We appreciate how busy you are so thank you for taking the time to read this edition.  Do get in touch as we love hearing for you and are happy to help in whatever way we can!

There are a lot of terrible things happening around the world, but pictures like the one above prove that there are people out there who really care for others and that it is not all doom and gloom!  Its people like this and all the other decent people like him, who go out of their way to help fellow human beings and/or animals, that make us proud and hopeful for the future of us all!

Colchester Big Choice Award

We were honoured and grateful to win £5,000 from the Colchester Big Choice Award as voted for by the Colchester public!  Thank you to everyone who voted for us, we really appreciate it!  Winning will enable us to offer low cost spaces to people who cannot usually afford to attend our trainings.  Our first step will be to run a low cost Resilience training to parents in May/June.  Get in touch if you would like to find out more!

Useful videos to watch and articles to read

We are an associate freelancer for the School for Social Entrepreneurs East and have been facilitating programmes across Essex to a diverse group of people including single mums wanting to get back into work, education or business and carer entrepreneurs looking to start up their own care organisation.

As a result, we have been watching and learning a lot about the care sector and how much crisis it actually is in.  You can watch more about this here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08k9zgn

We are also closely aligned with Action for Happiness and following the International Day of Happiness, they sent out this guidebook packed full of great ideas: http://www.actionforhappiness.org/media/530511/ten_keys_guidebook.pdf

If you would like to learn more about Action for Happiness, they are running an event on 18th April all about this month's topic of compassion: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/compassion-with-professor-paul-gilbert-tickets-32673237533

If you watch and/or read any of these, do let me know what your thoughts are as we always love hearing from you!

Resilience & Coaching Skills training (ESSEX)

On 24th March, we delivered our Resilience training to foster carers, parents of ASD children and SEN leads within schools.  This follows on from our Colchester Soup win, which enabled us to get a wider reach to parents who need the support. Feedback received included: "I enjoyed every bit of the training, no improvement needed at all.  As a result i will believe in myself more and give myself more 'ME' time! Wish this had been a two day event"

The next two trainings we will run in the Summer Term will specifically be for low income parents, one in Colchester and one in Harwich.

We also delivered our coaching skills training to sixth formers who were about to embark on a peer coaching programme whereby they will be coaching younger students in subject specific areas (see pic above).  One student's feedback was that as a result she would be 'spreading more kindness to others and ensuring that when coaching younger students, i am positive and trustworthyWhat a lovely outcome! We thoroughly enjoyed delivering to these young people and wish them every success going forward.

We can come and deliver either of these trainings in house to your staff/students/parents plus our NEW mental health awareness training, which we are delivering to 30 teachers in June.

This works out as far more cost effective than booking individually for a public course.  Get in touch to find out more.
