NEWS: NNERPP LAUNCHES EDWEEK BLOG

We are excited to introduce a new Education Week blog: Urban Education Reform: Bridging Research and Practice features the groundbreaking work of researchers and practitioners within some of our member RPPs, highlighting the close connection between research and practice within these partnerships. Read our introductory blogpost for more information on the blog! Several NNERPP members have signed up to participate in this weekly blog and share about their work. The Stanford-SFUSD partnership kicked off our very first week with a great post introducing research done on Transitional Kindergarten in San Francisco and a fantastic practitioner reflection post on said research. Stay tuned: Next week, we will hear from the UChicago Consortium on School Research! We are excited about the wonderful opportunity to share RPP work with a wider audience and thrilled to have many of our valued members contribute. Let us know if your RPP would like to join in! Make sure to check out Urban Education Reform: Bridging Research and Practice

NEWS: HOUSTON EDUCATION RESEARCH CONSORTIUM RESEARCHES SCHOOL READINESS

A study examining the relationship between participation in public pre-kindergarten and school readiness in Houston finds that students attending one or two years of pre-k offered through the Houston Independent School District (HISD) are significantly more likely to be school ready than students attending zero years of HISD pre-k on both English and Spanish assessments. Read the research brief "The Benefits of HISD Pre-Kindergarten: The Relationship between Years of Exposure and School Readiness" by Erin M. Baumgartner from the Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC) for more on the study and its findings and implications.
