PolicyBristol Post
Welcome to the April edition of PolicyBristol's Newsletter.

It has been a tumultuous month in politics. Article 50 has now been triggered, less than a week after the 25 March 2017, the 60th anniversary of the signature of the Treaties of Rome, which was marked around Europe with pro-European marches in different European capitals including London.  Meanwhile, the Scottish Parliament has backed a second independence referendum.  In reflecting on the historical significance of Brexit, our latest blog considers the importance of remembering the spirit of unity and co-operation which inspired the European dream in the first place.

And, to mark the significance of the Brexit process, over April we will be hosting three workshops with the people of Bristol – from the universities, local communities, businesses and organisations.  Each workshop focuses on a theme: Empowering Local Communities, Projecting Britain and Bristol in a post-Brexit World, and Suspended Citizenship.  The findings, recommendations, ideas and ways forward from these workshops will be showcased at a final event on 23rd May which will include stalls, presentations, interactive networking opportunities and an art exhibition.

PolicyScan
Our monthly PolicyScan provides an update on current legislation, consultations and inquiries taking place in Westminster and the devolved administrations.  The subject of 'In Focus' this month is Air Quality.  MPs from four select committees have combined forces to launch an unprecedented joint inquiry on air quality to scrutinise cross-government plans to tackle urban pollution hotspots.
The PolicyScan's full listing of consultations, inquiries, and legislation will now be published only in the PolicyBristol Intranet as a service for Bristol University staff.
