Dear <<First Name>>,
The Bantham Swoosh event is just under three months away, and we hope you are starting to think about acclimatisation and training. This email contains news and information about your swim..

The Bantham Swoosh is generously supported by Alpkit, and all swimmers will receive an OSS x Alpkit Osmo towel on the finish line.
How to check your registration
Until 12 May 2017, you can see your purchase at https://www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/my-account/orders/
12 May is the date we will finalise all start lists and start preparing your registration packs, so after then your registration cannot be changed at all. That is the last date you can transfer an unwanted place to another swimmer or correct any of your personal details, so put that date in your diary.
Wetsuits are compulsory
Full length (wrist-to-ankle neoprene) swimming or triathlon wetsuits are compulsory, unless you are granted approval for a skin swim from the events team by email on 5 May. Skin-swim application forms must be returned by Friday 28 April.
Please complete your disclaimer now

Don't miss out on key information
To make sure you receive all our emails in future, it’s worth adding outdoorswimmingsociety.com to your “approved senders” or “whitelist” to ensure our emails don’t end up in your Spam folders.
Medical Issues
We need to insist that if you have any medical concerns whatsoever about your medical fitness to take part in the swim, you should consult your doctor now about taking part in the event.
Your ticket is yours to keep - there are no refunds.
We offer transfers up to 12 May if you have someone else you want to give your place, but we do not offer refunds. This means if you fall pregnant, your best friend gets married, you break a bone or your shoulder gets hurt in training, your only option is an exchange. Put 12 May date in your diary! It is up to you to resell your ticket to another swimmer. You can try the OSS Facebook events, linked above (but not the main OSS group).
Extreme Weather that leads to last minute cancellation or adaptation of the event will lead to your place being lost and unrefunded. In the unlikely event we have to cancel on the event day or immediately before by, for example, storms, lightening or heavy rain that impedes the view of the lifeguards, you will not be offered a refund or a free place in next years event. Be aware by this point in the event everything will be in place for the event to happen and all expenses due our end. Also be aware that you will likely have incurred significant costs getting to the event, on training, accommodation, kit and so on. But we do not have the insurance to cover this eventuality, we have opted to keep the price to swimmers down as much as possible, and a small risk.
Insurance against extreme weather cancellation...
...is available separately, for example from impcom.co.uk . Please note this is a totally separate organisation from the OSS and you can chose to buy insurance against the possibility of the event being cancelled due to extreme weather from this or any other company. Alternatively you can accept the small risk of not getting a refund in the case of event cancellation.
We'll be in touch as the event approaches.
For now, happy swimming!
