Greetings All

At Alben Elfed, Autumn Equinox, the Grove of the Summer Stars celebrated the balance of light and dark once more, committing ourselves to balance, to be blessed with its gifts in our own lives and with us, the lives of all around us.   Les, one of our bards, delivered this splendid ode.

An Ode to Balance

I search for balance, often with a frown
An illusive state, is it ‘verb’ or ‘noun’
‘Equilibrium’ or ‘stability’
‘Justice’, perhaps ‘impartiality’
So many meanings ‘balance’ has for me

But to know that my soul has stabilized
Is to be in a place so dearly prized
Where all my emotions and senses strive
Passions, temperance, together contrive
for that ‘Balance,’ that makes my spirit thrive

APRIL has Magick Moon/The Sorceress on the Full Moon of Tuesday 11th then we have Four Elements/Four Seasons – Earth/Air/Healing on Thursday 13th and our Southern Hemisphere Halloween – Samhuinn – on Saturday 29th.

MAY offers Four Elements/Four Seasons – Earth / Manifestation / Harvest on Thursday 4th and the wisdom of The Crone Moon is honoured on Thursday 11th.

The Woolshed awaits your wonderful presence.
Love, light and laughter,

FOUR ELEMENTS / FOUR SEASONS SECOND GRAND CYCLE
At The Woolshed with Pamela Meekings-Stewart
Cost: $30 per session
EARTH / AIR / HEALING
7-10pm Thursday 13th April
The way ahead is clear.  The end is in sight.  Success is within grasp.  The final adjustments need to be made.
EARTH / MANIFESTATION / HARVEST
7-10pm Thursday 4th May
A time of completion and harvest.  A time to gather all you have learned into your basket of knowledge.

These workshops are open to all – new people and ‘old hands’ with those who have attended the First Cycle exploring deeper aspects of the Elements and Seasons while ‘refreshing’ previous learning.  So the new people will benefit from the wisdom of the previous ‘Elementals’ and the previous ‘Elementals’ will get to do some sharing of what they have learned with the newer ‘Elementals’!  Ultimately we are all learners and we are all teachers.
I am keen to build further on the basic understanding and philosophy of The Four Elements/Four Seasons - for the good of ourselves, our relationships, our dreams and plans, and our planet.

Elementally Yours, Pamela

ARACHNE’S WEB
Arachne is the Spider Goddess who weaves the Web of the World and, sitting at its centre, receives all knowledge that vibrates along it.  Here are a few ‘vibrations’, i.e. interesting workshops not held at The Woolshed that I think you might be interested in, or upcoming events at The Woolshed not yet in the Calendar. (Please contact Pamela if you would like an appropriate event displayed here.)

The Woolshed is a place to celebrate Spirit in Nature and warmly welcomes community participation.  Here we celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year in Aotearoa New Zealand by holding Festivals appropriate to the seasons approximately every six weeks.  These are the two Solstices (Winter and Summer), the two Equinoxes (Spring and Autumn) and the four Quarter Festivals – Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh (when we hold a Camp) and Samhain. These Festivals are open to all who wish to connect with the land and Her tides and times.  We also have a native tree-planting programme and are always keen for offers of help for our frequent ‘working bees’. Our organic gardens and orchards also respond positively to extra hands.
A women-only group meets monthly on the Full Moon.
Also, if you would like to walk the hills and the bush on the farm then give us a ring –
04 2399234. I’m sure we can accommodate you.

The farm can be a little hard to find, so please telephone (you can leave a message on the answerphone) and I will send you directions on a clear and detailed map.

The focus of the evening is one of ‘Exploring the Divine Feminine’ and the role of the Goddess and her ‘workings’ within ourselves and in our lives.

On Tuesday 11th April we will enter the Magick Moon of The Sorceress and on Thursday 11th May we will honour the wisdom of the Crone Moon.

A contribution to ‘supper’ would be appreciated. The Full Moon rituals are for women only. If you’re new and would like to attend just give Pamela a call on 2399234.
SAMHUINN / HARATUA / HALLOWEEN / LAST LIGHT
7pm, Saturday 29th April at The Woolshed

To restore the real meaning of Halloween, we celebrate it at this time of the year when all of Nature appears to be dying and the time of darkness is upon us.  In the Celtic tradition it was recognised as a major seasonal shift that dislocated time and space, opening people to other realities.  This was the feast of the dead, with storytelling and divination playing an important part.  In Scotland and northern England people would dress as spirits, ghosts, witches and goblins, and blacken their faces in bonfire ash for protection.  They lit candles in hollowed-out turnip lanterns to evoke eerily the dead revisiting earth.  It was also a feast of peace and friendship when weapons were laid down and violence put aside.

COME IN   COSTUME IF YOU WISH – IT IS HALLOWEEN AFTER ALL!

Haratua is the time when crops are stored in pits, labours are over and when the emphasis now shifts into the bush, the domain of Tane, as a food source.  The kiore is traditionally important at this time as it grows fat in late autumn and winter when feed is plentiful.
It is time to hear the story of Hine-nui-te-po, goddess of death and her encounter with Maui when, in his foolishness, he tried to conquer her.

Bring stories, poems, songs, dances, reflections, readings, symbols, etc. to create our own special ceremony.  A contribution to our supper feast afterwards would be appreciated.

PLEASE NOTE: The Quarter Festivals (Beltane, Lughnasadh, Samhuinn and Imbolc) are for members of the Grove of the Summer Stars only.  The Sun festivals (both Equinoxes and both Solstices) are open to all and we look forward to welcoming you here.
