LEARNING THIS WEEK:
Room 9 Writing:

Once upon a time there lived a comedy actor.  He felt silly and stupid but he thought it was a good thing because it would entertain the audience.
He looked like a guy with a pencil stuck in his right ear, a smelly coat, bent shoes and a bright red nose.  He had a funny personality and he desired to be on stage from when he was a little boy.
He always made his parents laugh a lot.  One night he performed a terrific comedy act.  He had a family which was a part of the audience.

Loud laughing distracting kids.
Dangerously falling on the ground.
Swinging so quickly so you get extremely dizzy.
Jiggling like you are on a wobbly roller coaster.

Poem by Fionnuala

Once upon a time there was a fat lady and she loved her computer.  One day her computer broke and she didn’t know what to do except eat chocolate and cry all day.  Her name was Madison.  Her job was to be an artist.  She loved doing it but she missed her old gorgeous computer.  She had brown hair and blue eyes.  Her favourite colour was purple, so she wore purple clothes every day.  She had purple glasses too.  Her skin colour was brown.

Basketball this week:
TRS Raptors won 10/4 against Birkenhead Braves.
TRS Magic won 18/9 Browns Bay Dragons.
Player Devin Bates - Wellington states "it was a really good game"
Basketball is well underway with the grading rounds completed this week.

We have two Year 3 and 4 teams - The Bullets and The Breakers and we have two Year 5 and 6 team - The Magic and The Raptors.

The two Year 3 and 4 teams are new to basketball and are learning a lot of fundamental skills needed to compete in a basketball competition.  Their managers and coaches are proud of the way they have given their best each game, and accepted others teams have played before and they are newbies to basketball and have a lot to learn.  Thank you to Josie Choi and Irina Stanciu who are managing the team with the help of other parents.

The Year 5 and 6 teams have more experience, and in particular the Magic who are on the way to being entered into the first grade.  The Raptors have made huge progress too with some players playing their first games.  Thank you O'Ceen Reed and Shannon and Tu Pahi who are managing the teams.

The Breakers are the real newbies and had two loses - 0 - 8 and 2 - 22.

The Bullets had a loss and a win - 0 - 10 and 12 - 8.

The Raptors had a win and a draw - 10 - 4 and 2 - 2.

The Magic who have a lot of experience had two win - 16 - 4 and 18 - 9.
Player Devin Bates-Wellington states "it was a really good game"

These results will place our teams in the grades they will play in for the next 11 weeks.

Good luck and we wish you all the best.
