Dear Friend,
There are two upcoming bills in the Nevada Assembly that will help us keep Gold Butte and our surrounding National Conservation Lands protected forever.
AJR13
This bill, introduced by Assemblywoman Heidi Swank expresses support for the Gold Butte and Basin & Range National Monuments. We hope that our supporters will attend the April 11 hearing in support of this bill. Stay tuned for additional details. You can register your opinion and comments now on this link.
AB 277
The second bill is not specific to Gold Butte, but addresses the impacts of development to our beautiful National Conservation Areas. Sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Yeager, AB 277 will protect national conservation areas by restricting local governments from enacting development plans of certain lands located within any national conservation area, national recreation area or adjacent lands.
The hearing for AB 277 is scheduled for Friday, March 31, at 8:00 a.m. You can attend in Las Vegas or northern Nevada, Room 4401 of the Grant Sawyer State Office Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV.

We believe that no local government should be able to encroach on our nation’s natural gems. Conservation areas like Black Rock Desert, Red Rock Canyon, and Sloan Canyon are staples of Nevada's shared natural heritage and they must be protected.
If you support protecting our public lands, join us this Friday and don’t forget to wear red! If you can’t make it out on Friday, you can show your legislator you support AB277 by clicking here!
