Ms Ann Djedid
Head of Campus, Rayyan

Dear Parents,

This week saw the celebration of talent amongst our children with the main highlight of the year, the school production of 'Poptastic'. This was the culmination of two terms work on music and drama as an ECA and many hours spent rehearsing to hone our presentation skills and ensure success.
Ms Karen Wilson
Head of Campus, Gharaffa

Dear Parents,

A gold medal was once again brought back by our Year 5 Boys’ Basketball Team on Monday. Well done, boys!  Due to the sporting achievements of our Gharaffa students this term, we are now proudly playing in the finals in May.  We are looking forward to the event which will be held at Qatar Foundation.

Poptastic, A Doha Musical
2017 Rayyan Production

The Rayyan Production this year was ‘Poptastic’, an ambitious, exciting, funny, feel-good children’s musical based on a school talent show combined with the story of a young wanna pop star Charlie. It’s also about the sometimes competing claims of ambition and friendship – about ‘making friends, keeping them and taking them with you’.  It’s an exciting story with plenty of wacky, off beat characters from the glamorous world of pop like the imaginary Poptastic. The great man himself who is the spirit of pop and the inspiration behind every Number 1 and who lives in an old juke box in Charlie’s bedroom, to the pop impresario Tunemangler who signs up Charlie and sets her on to the path to fame and fortune.

Poptastic was performed by pupils from Years 2 - 6 enabling solo singers to shine as well as large ensemble singing. There were many memorable performances e.g.  the boy band of a Beatle, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and David Bowie to Tunmangler and her ‘Suits’, The Sherbet Lemons, The Birds, The Roadies and not forgetting Charlie and her band. It was a musical the children enjoyed performing and their enthusiasm in acting their roles and singing the songs was very evident. Two performances were held in Rayyan Hall to a full house on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

Finally, one highlight of the evening was the Teacha Cha Cha dance troupe of Rayyan Ladies, a moment children and parents will remember for a long time that received one of the loudest cheer of the evening.

A great performance loved by all. Well done, Rayyan Campus. See images here...

Gharaffa Year 4
Books, Science, Assembly!

This week was a busy week for Gharaffa Year 4 classes.

They have been reading books together from the Global Campus Library. Then wrote a review of the book on the Global Campus Library website for other NAE schools to see.

Later in the week, students have been investigating the viscosity of liquids. They tested tomato ketchup, honey and washing up liquid. Throughout the week, conclusions were drawn and writing our results.

Year 4GC had a great time showcasing their learning about volcanoes during their assembly on Friday. They sang beautifully, delivered their lines perfectly and taught everyone something new and exciting!

LOST PROPERTY
Madinat Khalifa Campus

Would all parents please go through lost property if your child has misplaced anything by the end of the last week of term.

The items that remain will then be cleared to start a fresh for the new term.

This has been a very hard task this term as things have been clearly labelled and returned only to end up back in Lost Property.

Big Decisions – Supporting the (Many) Next Steps

During the many stages of our educational journey, we have to make significant decisions that will shape our future and the opportunity to find success.

Here at Compass International School Doha, we have groups of students and parents making significant choices across the different age groups.
 Mr Jimmy Frawley
Head of Primary, Madinat Khalifa

Dear Parents,

The use of technology is a hot topic in education at the moment. I firmly believe that technology should be used to further enhance student learning. I have visited schools where iPads have been little more than a very expensive substitute for exercise books.

I would like to share some examples from across Primary where students have used technology to showcase their learning.
