LINKING THE SOUTH AND
THE NORTH
Exhibition at Palazzo Litta, Milano
For the 2017 edition of "A Matter of Perception", DAMNº & Mosca Partners invited Ilkka Suppanen and Raffaella Mangiarotti to exhibit at Palazzo Litta during the Salone del mobile.
This year's topic of the "A Matter of Perception" series is "Linking Minds". For that reason, Ilkka Suppanen and Raffaella Mangiarotti titled their exhibition "Linking The South and The North / Unire Sud e Nord ", in which they present joint contemporary works. The center piece will be a preview of the "Undecided" sofa for Manerba. The sofa formulates a synthesis between Scandinavian simplicity and Italian elegance.
The exhibition will additionally feature new and known products by the Finnish company be&liv. One of the new works is designed by Italian designer Alberto Meda, creating another link between the north and the south.

SOLO
Candle holder for be&liv
A candle holder, light and simple. The “Solo” candle holder's shape resembles a mixture between a vase-like volume and a traditional candle holder, but the hollow structure makes it light and delicate. “Solo”, as the name suggests, is made for a single candle and succeeds the "Quartet" candelabra which is made for four candles.
In the tradition of be&liv, the “Solo” candle holder is flat when packed and easily assembled by oneself without tools. It is beautifully packed and easy to transport.
Like the previous objects, the material is laser cut steel with various finishes.
Product dimensions: 17x13 cm
Solo and other be&liv products are on display during Milan design week.

WHITE ICONS
Exhibition at Palazzo Cusani, Milano
Studio Suppanen's oversized white Cantrell mushroom was chosen by curator Giulio Cappellini to participate in the "White Icons" exhibition.
The Cantarell was designed for an installation at Alcantara`s “Local Icons. Urban Landscapes North/South” exhibition earlier this year, which featured elements of the Finnish nature that are interwoven into the urban context and culture of Finland.
The centerpiece of that installation will be on display again during Milan Design Week in the "White Icons" exhibition, which is a part of the "White in the City" exhibition series during the "Salone del Mobile".

UNDECIDED
Sofa for Manerba together with Raffaella Mangiarotti
There are a couple of phenomenons which come together in the "Undecided" sofa. It is a combination of many needs and desires for today’s work place and home environment. The sofa creates an intimate space at work. The high upholstered back is an invitation to carve out a private and reserved niche, where people can meet. A convenient and soundproof location, where you can talk face to face, while leaning on the soft cushions. In a home environment, the pillows become a wall protecting yourself from the world. Inside the cocoon, you are comfortable, warm, and protected.
The sofa will be previewed in the picturesque entrance room of Palazzo Litta during the "Salone del Mobile".

Salone Satellite
20 Years Collection
Exhibition at Fabbrica del Vapore, Milano
Salone Satellite will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. At this special anniversary exhibition, Ilkka Suppanen's work will be presented.
An edition of pieces were commissioned especially for this occasion to celebrate established international designers. These designers share a common denominator of starting their career in past editions of the Salone Satellite. Some of the pieces will be self-produced by the designers themselves, while others are produced and marketed by companies exhibiting at the Salone del Mobile.
Representing Ilkka's work the exhibition will be the "Airbag Chair", designed by himself and Architect Pasi Kolhonen.
All pieces will form the Salone Satellite 20 Year Collection and can be seen in a large scale exhibition at the Fabbrica del Vapore.

EVANESCENT
Exhibition at Galerie Maria Wettergren, Paris
Galerie Maria Wettergren presents the exhibition, "Evanescent". Through a new series of large-scale glass sculptures made in collaboration with Sergio Tiozzo and Claudio Pino Signoretto in Murano, Suppanen proposes a reflection on the phenomenon of evanescence.
In a metaphorical sense, the exhibition suggests a link between water and glass in their ability to turn from solid to liquid to vapor.
The optical theme is further explored in the visually intriguing "Porcupine Lamp", which is 3D printed and hand-assembled in resin or copper, as well as in the premiere of the new "Stick Chair" prototype at Galerie Maria Wettergren.
