                                                                                   April 5, 2017
Dear Parents, Guardians, Alumni, Parishioners, and Friends of Assumption-St. Bridget School,
Spring is upon us, with the beautiful flowers and all of the rain! Please send your child to school with the proper gear each day to keep them dry.  Huge thanks goes out to Mrs. Eusabio, our ASB Parent Board, and the many parent and student volunteers who worked hard on our Spring Spruce Up day!  The campus looks wonderful and ready to welcome in the new growth of spring.
Springtime also brings registration for the upcoming school year.  Thank you to many families who have promptly returned all of their registration paperwork.  As you can well imagine, the time needed to sort and input all the information returned takes a lot of time, so your promptness is appreciated!  Many parents have begun to ask about class placement too.  As in past years, ASB will be following the same protocol.  This year’s grade level team will meet later in May to make class placement into next year’s classes.  After a year together, teachers know the students best and are integral to this process.  As parents, if you have specific information on your child’s learning style, along with any social concerns needing to be considered, please email me directly.  After I receive the placement lists from the teachers, Mrs. Riggle and I look them over and take into account any information in regards to learning style/social concerns that we may have received from parents.  ASB does not accept specific requests for teachers.  All class lists will be posted in the beginning of August for parents and students.
Next week marks Holy Week of the Lenten season.  As the North Seattle Region of 13 Catholic schools, we are joining together this year for a regional Good Friday observance to all families and students to participate in.  “Day to Unplug” will be a time for all of us to do just that- unplug and center ourselves on Christ and His message of love and grace.   Please click HERE for the North Region info sheet.  So please take note that there will be minimal power usage while at school for students.  We will answer the main phone line in the office, but will not have our computers on that day in observance and reverence.   As a school and part of the ASB tradition, our 7th graders will present the Stations of the Cross to the entire school.  Stations will begin at 10:45-11:45 and move throughout the building, classroom to classroom.  Parents are invited to attend and may simply come to the main foyer or their child’s classroom to participate.  All students will be leaving the building in silence as well; reflecting on the goodness God has given us in His Son, Jesus.

In Christ's Peace,
Christina Vierra McGill

The ASB Walkathon

Donate - or create your family donation page - with this link!

Tell me more....
The Walkathon is Friday, April 28. In most cases, two classes go out one at a time, starting at 9 a.m., and walk or run around the block. Parents can volunteer to cheer students on. A sign-up will be emailed out from your room parents this week with grade-specific times. The Walkathon ends at noon.

Where are we now?
Thank you to everyone who has already donated, but we still have a ways to go! 60 families have created fundraising pages, and we have 82 donations. If you choose to not create a fundraising page, you can just donate at the same link. We also take checks! Just make sure to indicate "walkathon" and your family name.

What's the commitment?
We recommend that ASB families donate $100 per child or $200 per family (if there's more than one child).

Contests and Free Dress!

  1. Free dress for families that raise more than $250!
  2. Pizza party for the class that raises the most money!
  3. Doughnuts for the runner-up class!

What else?
You only need to set up one webpage per family, not each individual child. For instructions, please click this link!

Clarification on Parish Reflection Forms...

Annual Parish Reflection Forms provide an important opportunity for your family to reflect on your current and future parish involvement. It also allows Father Oliver and Father Haydock to connect with each school family. Obviously doing so takes a lot of time; each pastor has offered that time throughout the coming weeks. Important: Your signed Parish Reflection Form can be turned in separate from (and later than) the rest of your registraion materials.

Assumption:  Father Oliver is making himself available to sign Parish Reflection Forms after Masses, and by office hours each week (you will receive an email from the parish with current hours).

St. Bridget:  Since Father Haydock is still recuperating with his recent health issues, Parish Administrator Michael Palmer is signing forms in his absence.

Please email or call the parish offices with questions.

Save the Date!

Extended Care registration for the 2017-2018 school year is now OPEN.  Registration forms are available on the ASB website. Families that choose an Extended Care prepayment plan for the 2017-2018 school year, and submit their registration forms to ASB by June 15, 2017, will have their Extended Care registration fee waived.

Registration for Summer Extended Care or Camp ASB is now open.  Similar to the past two summers, Camp ASB will not be open during the month of August.  There are a great deal of facilities projects that can only be finished when students are not on campus and August is the only time that ASB School has available to complete these projects. I am still working on the 2017 Summer Calendar, and will plan on having that available to families by Spring Break.

KinderCamp is also returning to ASB for the 2017 summer.  KinderCamp will run in two sessions. Session one will take place the first week that school gets out, June 19-23 and will be held Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Session two will be held the last week of Camp ASB, July 24-28 and will also run Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Planning for KinderCamp is in its final stages and will be finalized and available to incoming kindergarten families shortly.

If you have any questions about Extended Care or Camp ASB, do not hesitate to contact me, I am happy to assist in whatever way that I can.

Thank you,
Dylan Pouley

Parish News
Assumption Parish:
St. Bridget Parish:
Please join our school community in keeping Father Ken Haydock in your prayers as he is recuperating from his recent fall and working through some significant health issues.

Fill the suitcases heading to Namitembo!
Three fantastic ladies from St. Bridget and Assumption Churches (including ASB's former kindergarten teacher Ann Nachitgal) will be traveling to Namitembo in May to visit St. Bridget's sister parish. In addition to visiting the main campus, they will be visiting some of the many outschools and churches where they hope to greet folks and pray with them at Masses. It’s an ambitious trip as there are seven outchurches and 72 small Christian communities! Help these women arrive with duffels full of elusive goods for the very generous and kind people of Namitembo. In particular, they would like to bring:
 Toothbrushes
Reading glasses, new or very lightly used
Gently used running shoes (Ryan Somers is already heading up this collection!)
Pencils, School Supplies,
Laptops 3-5 years old; PC only – Will be wiped before traveling
32GB memory sticks
