Announcements

March for Science 4/22

On Saturday, April 22, the first ever March for Science will take place in Washington, D.C. Scientists and concerned citizens from across the country will gather on the National Mall to show their support for science and research.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Heidy Hernandez in the Office of Government & Community Affairs (GCA) at 212-305-9950 or hh2626@columbia.edu. GCA may arrange transportation to and from the march if the CUMC group is large enough.

Wellness Days @Columbia

Wellness Days @Columbia are for coming together to raise awareness, support each other, and relax and unwind. They are a joint effort of students, faculty, and staff and are part of an ongoing focus on mental health, wellness, and community citizenship at Columbia.

Starting April 10, there will be multiple opportunities to engage: Participate in Mental Health Rounds, a bystander intervention workshop, April 10; attend “Awakening our Democracy: The Politics of Mental Health” on April 12; create a journal, meditate, or practice yoga with the Center for Student Wellness on April 13; and join a community walk for suicide prevention on April 15. Updates about Morningside events will be available on the Office of University Life page, and CUMC events will be listed in the Center for Student Wellness’s weekly newsletter. 

These activities are primarily intended for students, but faculty and staff will be welcome at certain events.

SAAM 2017 logoSexual Assault
Awareness Month

April is recognized nationally as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This spring, join the Columbia community and make an impact. SAAM events, co-sponsored by Sexual Violence Response, aim to raise awareness of sexual violence/sexual assault and provide education to address and end sexual violence in our communities. For more information on events and activities, please visit the Columbia SAAM website.
