Welcome to The Blue Coat School
Community E-Newsletter, Spring 2017

“It is wonderful to look back on a spring term that was packed full of so many opportunities for our students to enjoy. What makes these opportunities so great is how they always bring different parts of our school community together. Our much praised school show, Sweeney Todd, was a fine example of what our students are able to achieve through the combined support of school, our parents, the Parents’ Association and the Development Office.

Our first ever Founders’ Week in March was also a great success. Our students’ participated in more opportunities to remember, explore and learn about our school’s rich heritage in a week-long celebration of ‘The Gift of Education’ that The Blue Coat School has given to so many. In the same week, we re-launched the Squirrel Magazine as an online Blog. This modern take on the original school magazine is a great opportunity for the Squirrel to build upon its place within the school’s heritage by becoming a central part of the school’s future.

With so much going on the year is flying by and already we will soon head into the challenges of exam season. But we know our students, equipped with the talent and confidence they have from all they participate in, are ready to tackle those challenges head on.

Thank you for your support which helps us provide the richest of experiences to every Blue Coat student.”

Mr MA Pennington, Headteacher

“It is always heartening to reflect on the abundance of academic opportunities made available to our Blue Coat students and with it comes a true appreciation of the continuous efforts of The Blue Coat School community – teaching staff, Parents’ Association, our Old Blues and our Foundation, to provide the impressive range of activities and experiences our students clearly thrive on and enthusiastically enjoy.

Eager involvement in a variety of science, maths and computer coding competitions, a visit to Berlin, hosting over 30 students from Montpellier, expansion of our national and international Old Blues’ network give testament to the diversity of the school life we constantly seek to deliver.

Spring is the herald of great anticipation and promise and we wish our students a confident and fulfilling term.”

Ms JM Shaw, Chair of Governors
