Ah, April. T.S. Eliot called it "the cruelest month," but in DC, April is tops. The cherry blossoms are in bloom, and we look to be in for some pleasant warmth. It's a great time to do good.
We celebrated Women's History Month, and DC Public Schools announced Reign, a program by and for young women of color.
For the first time, 100 percent of Ballou High School seniors applied to college.
LOOKING FORWARD
We'll keep you posted about upcoming events via our Facebook and Twitter, but here are a select few that are extra-special, or might require some advance planning:
April 8 -- Get STEAM-y at Catalaytor Maker Space. Create killer posters for the 4/22 March for Science.
April 15 -- Women and children in Africa walk 3.7 miles each day for water. The Running Water Race aims to create empathy.
April 23-29 -- Celebrate National Volunteer Week! Fun fact: It's one of the friendliest aspects of Nixon's legacy. Watch @TheDailyDoGood to learn more about how to #dogoodeveryday.
It became clear to me that simply caring is not enough. To drive real progress, you have to change both hearts and laws. You need both understanding and action. -- Hillary Clinton
