AWA News - April 2017

Dear Abalone Stakeholder

The AWA Project Team roadshow is well and truly underway! The team is visiting all abalone producing states to undertake consultation and feedback sessions about the Industry Marketing Levy, the proposed Five Year Promotional Plan and future opportunities.

Update on the AWA Roadshow...

We want to keep all stakeholders in the loop with the Roadshow activities, the objective of these meetings is to ensure an understanding of what the levy means for the industry, the opportunities it can create, how you can get information about the process and have your say.

In 2016 the team met with South Australian Abalone licence holders in October, followed by the Australian Wild Abalone exporters and the Abalone Association of Australasia (AAA) in November.  Following this consultation, changes were made to the proposed levy design as well as the Draft Marketing Plan.  This year, the AWA Team met again with the AAA, the Western Australian stakeholders at their February industry meeting - at these meetings they were presented with the updated Draft Marketing Plan 2018-2023 (available to download via this link). Since then the Project Team have been meeting face to face with key stakeholders to discuss the proposal and ensure they understand the process, and have an opportunity to ask any questions and have an input.

Please see below timetable of when the Industry Levy Briefing Roadshow will be visiting your state...

We encourage you to contact us with any questions or to organise a meeting with us, your feedback is valuable and may help shape the future of the industry.

A little blast from the past...

Here's a little reminder of a 2016 highlight, just over a year ago today our Chinese Chef Ambassadors and winners of the AWA Innovative design competition were here in Australia on a Gourmet Adventure in abalone producing states, meeting the exporters, the divers and connecting with the source of our product. They showcased their skills in a true collaboration between our Australian wild product and their Chinese culinary skills at a Gala Dinner for Abalone stakeholders at the end of their trip.
