Hi there

The first event for the year is now done and dusted! What an event it was...read about it all below. There are now a few months break before the next set of events, plenty of time to get your teams together and get that training underway.

The team at Cycling New Zealand Schools would like to offer a warm welcome to all of the new riders and new schools. We look forward to meeting you all at the next event. If you still need to affiliate with Cycling New Zealand Schools, you can do that here. 

National Schools MTB Championships - Event Wrap Up
Congratulations to all of the riders that took part in the National Schools MTB Championships. It was wet, it was muddy but it was awesome! A special shout out to Trident High School for taking out the Top School trophy. Read the full report here.

A massive thank you to our awesome partners; Rotorua Professionals McDowell Real Estate and Altherm Window Systems for helping to make this event happen and to the Crankworx team for hosting the event.

Be inspired by our Elite Riders
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are kicking off in Hong Kong on Wednesday! Our Elite riders will be racing for world titles and national pride so make sure you set record on SKY or check out the Cycling New Zealand Facebook page here for regular updates throughout the week. School riders are our champions of the future and what better way to get inspired than watching their heroes on the world stage.

50th Anniversary Celebrations
You may already know that this year's National Schools Road Championships will mark a half a century of Schools Cycling in New Zealand. We look forward to record fields this year and are planning on some special ways to commemorate this remarkable milestone. We hope to see riders from the past coming along to watch our champions of the future! Make sure your school is ready to represent in Levin, 30 September - 2 October 2017. Watch this space for more updates as planning continues!
What's next?
North and South Island Road Championships are next on the schools calendar.  North Island riders are heading back to Lake Karapiro in Cambridge while the Southern riders will be back at Ruapuna in Christchurch.  We know that many of the schools are underway with their training and wish you all the best for the preparation.

30 September – 2 October: National Schools Road Championships – Levin/Palmerston North/Feilding 
6 – 8 October: North Island Schools MTB Championships - TBC
6 – 8 October: South Island Schools MTB Championships - TBC
11 – 12 October: South Island Schools Track Championships - Invercargill
