Country of Origin labelling update
Country of Origin labelling requirements continue to be finalised by the ACCC.
Records of Country of Origin Labelling must be kept for 12 months after the sale of the food item.
A new version of the online CoOL tool is being developed, with a added calculator to assist in the calculation of Australian ingredients.

You can continue labelling your product in accordance with the regulations as set out in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Food Code) until 1 July 2018, however you are advised to consider incorporating the new standard requirements as you move forward with new products or label artwork.
Correct Food Systems continues to work with our clients to review product labels and assist them with the correct Country of Origin Mark for their products.

  • Residues on tools, vessels and implements in China found in an archeological dig suggest that they were used for making beer over 5000 years ago. Wide mouthed pots, amphora and funnels were found to contain starch fragments from millet and barley; and oxalates and organics compounds associated with cereal fermentation.
  • An investigation after what appears to be human waste was found in a shipment of drinks cans at a Co Antrim factory in Northern Ireland has been reported. A container of cans from Germany was contaminated , thought to be used by stowaway immigrants to relieve themselves.
