Juniors

Letters will soon been sent out to all Junior members inviting them to the Annual Meeting on Sunday April 23rd, 1:30pm. It is hoped that we can get as many along as possible, including parents or carers, to try and get some momentum behind the younger Crow Wood members. All details will also be posted on the Juniors noticeboard, as well as the club Facebook page.

To help give the season a bit of a kick start, all Juniors (and their non-member friends - at no cost), are invited along on the next three Monday nights (3rd, 10th and 17th April) at 6pm, to join some of the Junior Committee in a 12 hole (light permitting) competition. The format will be decided on the night depending on numbers, but can all interested, meet at the Pro-shop.

Additionally, there are four Medal Competitions organised throughout April. Anyone wishing to play, please put your name on the start sheet on the noticeboard as soon as possible. Further details for the season will be given at the AGM.

And finally, anyone interested in representing Crow Wood in the Junior Team, should also put their name on the board. You must be under 18 on January 1st 2017, with the Lanarkshire Golf Association matches scheduled from May through July this year.

Course Update

Please note that as of April 1st, the fairways will be returning to full play. Weather dependent, the 6th and 10th greens will also re-enter play after their development works.

There still will be many blue rope, fence and painted area restrictions, which we ask all members to fully respect. It goes without saying that all divots and pitch marks on the greens are repaired, to allow the course to start the spring in the best possible fashion.

All the Greens and Tee boxes, as well as some worn areas have been fertilized this week, and preparation works for the main season continues with lots of trimming, cutting, pruning and repair works. This is a very busy time for the greenstaff, as the growing season starts in earnest.

As agreed at the AGM, a greens forum will take place before the season starts, to allow members to put their points forward in a constructive manner. This has been set for Wednesday 19th April at 6:30. We would request that any questions are submitted in advance to allow the Greens staff and Committee time to consider them, and therefore to be as prepared as possible to discuss. Winter Competitions

The final winter competition of the season takes place this Sunday. The Portuguese Caddy is a light hearted version of golf. It is an individual stableford competition played off full handicap. Where it becomes interesting is that each player is allowed three kicks of his ball, except on the green.
We don't think we will see this at Augusta next week.

  • Saturday 26th November - 5 Club Stableford - Winner - Henry Gribben 39 points
  • Sunday 18th Dec.- Fourball better ball - Winners - Chris Edge & John Henderson with 58
  • Saturday 11th March - Yellow Ball Competition
    • Net Score (53) - S.Bradley, B.Smith, J.Barlow & A.Barlow
    • Yellow Ball (63) - R.Smith, B.Grant, J.Henry, D.Abernethy
  • Sunday 2nd April - Portuguese Caddy
