Message from FIU & Barry University in South Florida
2017: Ponder
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to a fabulous academic year! Your faithful support is the anchor God uses to firmly secure a campus witness for Christ. Together, we sailed into unchartered waters and found Jesus among foreign educated physicians -- even though many hail from the 10/40 window of unreached people groups!! We hosted multiple outings and cultural events. We also kicked off the IV-FIU book club, with Andy Crouch's Strong and Weak, which challenges us to embrace a life of love, risk, and true flourishing. Two Chinese students came to America and found Jesus; one met her American born baby brother for the first time! With old and new friends, I completed the certificate level in the phenomenal 15-week Perspectives course.
Jesus was exalted and friendships extended in many forms since classes began last August: just checkout our events calendar here.
Every December, I ask the Lord to give me a word to serve as an anchor for my Bible meditations throughout the year. The word for 2017 is ponder. Synonyms include consider, weigh, make level, contemplate, regard, understand, discern, and pause to reflect. The Psalms use the term selah. Our life voyage can only gather momentum as we take note of the riches of God's plan along the way and trust the compass of His Word to steer our course.
Thanks for making this marvelous journey possible!
Mary
