April 2017

Mayors Message

Welcome to the April edition of our monthly newsletter. The year seems to be flying by. I am happy to report that we have started the review of our Community Strategic Plan - a key component of this review is obtaining community feedback and we invite members of the community to participate in our workshops. And I encourage all community and sporting groups to take advantage of the Town's Community Assistance Grants program which is now open for the 2017/18 financial year.  The Town is also proposing to adopt a Plastic Bag Local Law and we are seeking the community's feedback about this as well. More information is provided below about these articles. Happy reading.

If you would like further information on any topic within this newsletter, please contact us via admin@eastfremantle.wa.gov.au  and please feel free to pass this on to your friends and neighbours so they too can subscribe if they wish (subscribe here)

Protect our Street Trees - report vandalism!

The Town of East Fremantle community gains valuable benefits from street, verge and park trees, including beautifying of streetscapes, providing a sense of place, improved community wellbeing, increased property values, shade, temperature moderation and providing habitat for fauna.

To assist the Town with maintaining existing trees we ask that if you witness, or suspect that one or more of the Town’s trees, in a street, verge or park, are being damage or vandalised in any way, please report the incident to the Town as soon as possible.

Penalties do apply for vandalism and damage to trees – information about this can be found in the Town of East Fremantle Public Places and Local Government Property Local Law 2016. To view this Local Law click here.

Your assistance will help us to continue to increase the tree canopy across the Town. Contact us here

Friday Night Movies in the Park Proved Popular

Around 150 people braved a cool evening and enjoyed the Town's screening of the Great Gatsby on Friday 17 March in John Tonkin Park.  Unfortunately due to the rain and wind, the screening of Zootopia on Saturday night had to be cancelled.
