NEWSLETTER 2017
“Snow in April is abominable," said Anne. "Like a slap in the face when you expected a kiss.”
~LM Montgomery, "Anne of Ingleside"
LETTER FROM
THE DIRECTOR
While we at the Minot-Sleeper Library believe every day is a day to celebrate libraries, this month we join others across the country for National Library Week, happening April 9-15. This annual event, first sponsored in 1958 and observed by the American Library Association and library lovers nationwide, is an opportunity to recognize the important work library staff do on a daily basis and the influential role libraries play in their communities.
This year’s National Library Week theme is “Libraries Transform.” In Bristol, we see how our public library has changed our community and the lives of those living in the Newfound Region in positive ways. The expansion of the library and its programs four years ago has helped to transform opportunities for all ages. The library’s involvement in hosting public awareness forums has helped transform the way residents understand and make decisions about their local government. These are just two examples. From April 9-15 we will be giving you the opportunity to share how the library has impacted your life. It is my hope you will stop by the library’s desk and offer to have a short video clip recorded of your story. Clips will be edited together to show the wide range of transformations made.
For those not able to join us from April 9-15, we would love to hear your thoughts on libraries transform through our Facebook page at facebook.com/minotsleeperlibrary or by email at librarian@townofbristolnh.org.
