March for Science Albuquerque Event Information

When: Saturday, April 22nd
Where: Albuquerque Civic Plaza
Time: 2-4pm

The city management company, SMG, is coming together with the March for Science Albuquerque to create a unique day of science advocacy in conjunction with an Earth Day celebration on April 22nd, 2017. There is no formal march planned to the Plaza, so we are asking individuals who would like to come to the rally to be at Civic Plaza by 2pm. The rally will kick off promptly at 2pm with a speech from Councilor Gibson from the City of Albuquerque.

During the rally and on into the Earth Day event, there will be food trucks and vendors. One area for the Plaza is designated as a “Kids Area” and Explora! will have several tables set up with fun activities for adults and children, so the March for Science Albuquerque is promoting participation from all age groups. Other groups such as the Union of Concerned Scientists, New Mexico Academy of Science, and UNM’s STEM program will also have tables. The March for Science is also hosting a special “Ask a Scientist” table where members of the public can meet real scientists from the Albuquerque area and ask them questions about their respective research and what makes what they do important.

The March for Science Albuquerque is still taking donations because we need help from the community to pay for the portalets, permits, and insurance costs for the event. To donate, please visit www.marchforscienceabq.org.

The March for Science Albuquerque is a non-profit organization and is proud to be celebrating science with the great community of Albuquerque on April 22nd, 2017. GO SCIENCE!
