Brooklyn Deep Wins Prestigious Gracie Award!
The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation has awarded a "Gracie" Award to Brooklyn Deep/WNYC for our collaborative radio story, Seven Schools Later: One Student's View of Segregation, which was reported by Radio Rookie reporter Alexia Richbourg. The Gracie Awards recognize individual achievement and exemplary programming created by, for and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. We couldn't be prouder of Alexia and all of the Central Brooklyn Radio Rookies.

No Disrespect: Calling Allies

We're gearing up to formally jumpstart the ally initiative of No Disrespect, the BMC anti-street harassment working group, and we need your help!

Culture change requires engaging the whole community and lifting every voice. We're seeking men & masculine-of-center people of color who:

  • Are familiar with No Disrespect's mission, vision, and perspective;
  • Understand how essential ally work is in the world of gendered & sexualized street harassment;
  • Are comfortable organizing other men & masculine of center people;
  • Can spend 1-3 hours per month on this initiative from now until the fall.

Know anyone down to get involved? Email zakia at brooklynzhb@gmail.com with the subject line: ND Allies.
