We are always adding new titles to our library. Materials are available for loan to all members. To check out a book, fill out the  online request form in the members area of our website. Book titles can be browsed in the members area.

April 19: $101K for the 101 Campaign Launch, WDM, Moose Jaw

April 19: After Dark Film Series: Strange Brew, Saskatchewan Science Centre, Regina

It’s National Canadian Film Day 150, eh, so we’re bringing you some classic Bob and Doug McKenzie with Strange Brew! 

April 19: National Canada Film Day - Bugs on the Menu, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Regina

To join in on the excitement we are screening Bugs on the Menu in our theatre. The film is about the two billion people who eat bugs as a part of their regular diets.

In this exhibit, you will see how magic persists in the modern world in forms very much like those practiced in the premodern world.

Exhibition: #HereIstand. Martin Luther, the Reformation and its Results

Adrian Paton Exhibit and Mini-Unit

The Saskatchewan History and Folklore Society has put together a traveling exhibit for the Adrian Paton photo collection. They have also developed a curriculum-based grade 3/4 mini-unit to go along with it. For more information, contact Kristin Enns-Kavanagh, SHFS Executive Director.

National Trust Heritage Awards: Call for Nominations

The National Trust for Canada is accepting nominations for the National Heritage Awards, which honour contributions to community, identity and sense of place. The deadline for submission is April 28, 2017.


Professional Development

Basic Requirements of Preventive Conservation

A new free CCI web resource designed to provide preventive conservation advice to heritage institutions and those responsible for collection care. Compiled over the past few decades, the list of basics has been organized into three groups: building features, portable fittings and procedures.

2017-2018 LEAP Year

Leap is a management skills development program designed for nonprofit professionals interested in enhancing their management skills. The program consists of 9 one-day sessions throughout the year on a variety of management topics. More information.

HR Boot Camp

SPRA is offering HR Boot Camps in April and May. This is intense training program is meant to get participants in shape to handle human resources challenges and opportunities. Registration is open to non-members on April 10, 2017

PCS Presents 2 FREE Workshops at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Regina

These workshops will be valuable learning opportunities for communities implementing a Main Street program, and for any other organization that owns, uses, manages or regulates historic places. The workshops are designed so that they can be taken on a standalone basis, but attendance at both is recommended for maximum benefit.

The ABC Method: a risk management approach to the preservation of cultural heritage

This is a comprehensive manual aimed at those working in cultural heritage institutions. The ABC method has been refined over many years through an international course presented by CCI and ICCROM, as well as by its application in numerous case studies by CCI, ICCROM and colleagues around the world.

Free Public Lecture - Ecomuseums Today: Heritage Tools for Sustainability?      

René Rivard, Fellow of the Canadian Museums Association will be speaking at 7pm at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum on April 27.
 

Ecomuseum Symposium: Stuff, Stories, and Strategies for the Future

A free symposium and workshop offered through the Saskatchewan Ecomuseum Initiative and the Dept. of Anthropology at the U of R, this 3-day symposium promises to be an exciting step for ecomuseum development in Saskatchewan.
