Educational Demonstrations

Sharpen your homesteading skills or learn something new at one of our Earth Day demonstrations! Lakewood's composting guru, Julie Elam, will teach you the basics of browns and greens and how you can compost in your backyard. You can learn all about the bees and beekeeping from Neoteric Farms, and Sprout City Farms will provide tips on seed starting to get you ready for spring!

Beer Garden and Food Trucks

Enjoy beer, wine and spirits at the Beer Garden, while listening to live music and playing yard games. All proceeds from the Beer Garden will go to Jovial Concepts, a local non-profit organization committed to community and stewardship.

Grab a bite to eat from one of the food vendors, including Rocky Mountain Slices, Eaton Healthy, Chibby Wibbitz and the Village Roaster.

Zero Waste

After you finish your food and drinks, stop by one of our zero waste stations to make sure we keep all of our materials out of the landfill! Students from several Lakewood High Schools will be staffing each station to help you sort your trash and learn about how you can reduce, reuse and recycle!

Fitness Activities

Get moving with fun fitness activities, open to all ages and levels and led by Lakewood recreation instructors. Fitness activities will occur every hour beginning at noon with rhythmic drums, followed by yoga, zumba and TRX suspension training.

Bicycle Activities

Be one of the first 40 bicyclists to park in the free bicycle valet for a pair of SmartWool®  socks! The bicycle valet will be hosted by the Lakewood Bicycle Advisory Team and Green Mountain Sports.

For those interested in learning how to bicycle, stop by the Bicycle Colorado booth where kids can practice gliding and learn about bicycle safety!

Electronics Recycling

Are old electronics piling up in your garage? Drop them off at the e-waste recycling collection happening next door to the celebration at 777 S Yarrow St. Rooney Road Recycling Center will be hosting the collection to raise funds for the Center, which provides safe household hazardous waste recycling for the community.

Learn more about the recycling fees and reserve your spot beforehand at Lakewood.org/EarthDay.
