A writer and stepmom based in New York City (my hometown!) poured out her heart in this lovely New York Times article, "In the Shadow of a Fairy Tale," by Leslie Jamison. It's a nice reflection as we approach the Mother's Day and Father's Day holidays in the USA. Beautifully written, author Jamison weaves in flashes of compassion about her journey with stepdaughter Lily, whose mom died. These touches of heart give stepparents hope amidst stepfamily life complexities.
