So Many Ways to Chime In!
"Our Invitation Is In Our Name!"

Have you joined the ringing at any of our concerts? Or tried out the bells and chimes during a "Petting Zoo" at the end of a concert? Have you played Boomwackers or drums or other percussion at Dinner & Bells?

Maybe you've been at one of our Ring & Sing events at a nursing home. Or maybe you've helped us win a $1,000 prize with a donation during Give Local or joined us at Pizza & Polish to clean the bells.

Whatever it might be, we love it when you Chime In!

Chime In!
As Music Therapy

Chime In! Music with a Mission has not only provided me with joyful “music therapy” on a weekly basis, it has provided me with the opportunity to extend that to others through rehearsals and performances.  It is truly a music ministry in that regard, as whether all involved are playing or listening, we are uniting with each other in a manner that is good for the soul and brings out the best in humanity.

-- Barb Hunt --

New ringers are happily welcomed.
There is always room for experienced ringers
or for newbies to the ringing circle.

Chime In!
In Education

Matthew Bennett is a member of The Bennett Family, a large family who have rung handbells and made music together for many years, giving concerts in churches and care facilities throughout the area. Matthew is now music a teacher at Central Christian Academy where he has started a ringing choir of students.

Chime In! Music With a Mission has loaned Matt and his students a two-octave set of handbells in order to make the transition from handchimes to handbells. Here’s what a couple of the students have to say:

"I am sooo thankful to Chime In Music for letting us borrow the handbells. If our private school were to have multiple fundraisers to raise money for handbells, we would need about sixteen fundraisers to raise money for one octave. The handbells are so much prettier - in sound and look - than handchimes. It is a privilege to play the handbells. Thank you again, Chime In Music."
-- Esther (7th Grade) --

"I am glad to have handbells because they sound much better than handchimes. They are fun, and I like the gloves. They also look much better. I really enjoy music class because of the handbells."
-- Joey (7th Grade) --

Chime In!
Behind the Scenes

Members and Friends of Chime In! gather yearly for Pizza & Polish, our celebration to care for the gifts we have received from so many to make such beautiful music.

Chime In!
Participation for Everyone

As Director of Music, I love the challenge of arranging a piece of music for the audience to Chime In! with the ringers. With nearly 100 chimes in our collection along with other tuned percussion, I have a lot of creative leeway. Sometimes I'm asked where the ideas come from. The secret is, they come from making music. Usually within 36 hours after a performance, I am struck, seemingly from out of nowhere, with an idea for the next concert.

-- Rick Wood, Director of Music, Chime In! --

Chime In!
The Petting Zoo

How many performers invite you to try out their instruments after a performance? The Petting Zoo at the end of each of our concerts sets us apart from most.
We hope you will take the opportunity to ring to your heart's content after our next concert.

From the Director
A new experience is underway for The Messengers and for me. During this year when we have two long-time members of The Messengers moving away along with the arrival of two new babies in our midst, I have moved from out front to behind the tables as a ringer. It has been a long time since I rang regularly and I am finding the challenge exhilarating.

As a result, The Messengers have undertaken a challenging new piece of music in an excitingly different way that we think you will find entertaining.  The tune happens to have a familiar ring for many, and I’m sure you will recognize it. You may have even played it yourself!
