Lesson 2017: Appearances of the Risen Christ

Jesus appeared 11 times to 500+ people in the 40 days after the first Easter.

These appearances are among the many “convincing proofs” Luke mentioned. Acts 1:3
 
1 - To Mary Magdalene at the tomb on Easter morning. John 20:10-18;  Mark 16:9-11

2 - To the women: Mary (mother of James), Salome, Joanna. Matt.28:1-10; Mark 16:1; Luke 24:10

3 - To Peter on Easter morning, to restore fellowship after Peter’s denials. 1 Cor.15:5; Luke 24:34

4 - Cleopas & friend on the road to Emmaus, where they ate with Jesus. Luke 24:13-35; Mark 16:12

5 - To 10 disciples without Thomas, on Easter night in Upper Room. Luke 24:36-49; John 20:19-23

Jesus appeared like a “ghost,” yet ate a piece of fish, and they touched His wounds.

6 - The following Sunday, at the same place, to the same group plus Thomas.  John 20:24-29

7 - To 7 disciples fishing John 21:1-14, Matt.28:7 reminds us of their 1st meeting Luke 5:1-11

8 - To the 11, the Great Commission in Galilee. Matt.28:16-20; Mark 16:14-18

9 - To 500 followers on a mountain in Galilee.  1 Cor.15:6

10 - James, half-brother of Jesus, and future bishop of Jerusalem. 1 Cor.15:7

11 - The disciples at the Mount of Olives witnessed Jesus’ ascension.
Mark 16:19; Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:3-12

“He will return in the same way”.
Zech.14:4; Mt.24:30; Rev.19:11-21
