Staff updates
As we conclude a full and productive Term 1, we look ahead to some changes for Term 2. We are delighted to welcome seven new staff. Read more

Year 7 and 8 immunisations
The Year 7 girls will be given their Boostrix immunisation (sometimes called 11-year-old immunisation) with the Public Health nurses at Woodford House on Tuesday 9 May. On the same day the HPV vaccination will be given to those girls who have consent.
Both the Year 7 and 8 girls have been given information and consent forms to take home. All forms need to be signed and returned to school (even if you do not consent to your daughter receiving the vaccination) before Tuesday 2 May.

Flu immunisation
The flu immunisation programme will begin Week 1 of Term 2. Dr Karen Irwin, and Nurse Nikki will give these on three Friday mornings, starting Friday 5 May to the girls who have consent.

Woodford House Scholarships
The following Scholarships will be open for 2017 from Week 1, Term 2:
  • Academic
  • Sport
  • Performing Arts
  • Service
The aim of these Scholarships is to recognise extraordinary achievement and contributions in these key areas of school life and therefore raise the profile and standard in each area. Up to two junior and two senior recipients may be made each year in each category.
Scholarship is to be used primarily for attendance dues or to pay for coaching, workshops, tuition/examination fees, purchasing relevant equipment or school related trips.
Applications may be made in more than one area, but will be awarded in only one area in any year, and must be written by the student applying. Application forms for all categories are available from the Principal’s PA, Ms Deb McPherson, and via Schoology. Applications are due by 8.30am Tuesday 16 May, 2017.

Taster workshops at EIT
The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is hosting a series of ‘taster workshops’ during the school holidays. Many of them are free. View more information here

Year 7/8 holiday reading
All girls in the Intermediate Department are expected to read at least two texts during the holiday break.

Girls can also continue learning through the holidays by visiting MindLabKids.com. This fun and free video-based learning platform is home to an ever-growing collection of science, technology, engineering and mathematics-themed challenges. It is a safe online space where girls can learn from and collaborate with other like-minded kids from the comfort of their own home.

BOARDING 


Returning to school
Boarding Houses will open at 4pm on Sunday 30 April. House Music practice starts at 5pm (please see notice below). This will be followed by a Commissioning Chapel Service at 7pm for our new School Chaplain, Reverend Dr Deborah Wilson which parents are welcome to attend. We are expecting most girls in for dinner. House Music Practices
Please note that all House Music practices are compulsory in Term 2.
The first practice is on Sunday 30 April, 5.00-7.00pm (followed by Chapel at 7pm).

Venues for Sunday at 5pm:
Frimley: Gym
Rouncil: Music room
Tauroa: Dining room
Wallingford: Drama studio
All students will have dinner during House Music rehearsal time prior to Chapel at 7pm. Day girls are welcome to bring their own dinner/snacks or can book dinner in the dining room. Dinner can be booked by clicking on the following link: http://bit.ly/2oAS9xo

  • Tuesday 9 May, 3.30-5.00pm (Dress rehearsal) Wallingford House until 5pm*
*Please note that day girls in Tauroa or Wallingford House will need to organise transport home on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 May (Dress rehearsal days).

House Music Gala Performance
Venue: Woodford House Gym
Time: Thursday 11 May, 7.00pm
Doors will be open from 6.15pm

Gold coin donation at the door. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the door with proceeds going towards the commission of a Korowai for the school.

The Pickle King
Students taking NCEA Drama will attend The Pickle King at the Napier Municipal Theatre on Friday 5 May. A parent letter has been sent, including a consent link. If you have not provided consent yet, please do so before Monday 24 April.

Chapel Choir Camp
Members of the Chapel Choir will attend an overnight camp at Rivers Edge Holiday Park on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May. A parent letter has been sent. Please provide your consent before Monday 24 April.

SPIRITUAL


Commissioning Service

A Commissioning Service will take place in Chapel on Sunday 30 April at 7pm for our new School Chaplain, Reverend Dr Deborah Wilson. Parents are welcome to attend.
